What is The Wine Academy of Spain – Academia del Vino de España?
TWA of Spain is a private organization devoted to the education of professionals in the wine industry. It is the Approved Programme Provider for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) in Spain. The courses of The Wine Academy are attended by representatives of wineries and wine governing bodies as well as producers, marketing and export staff, sommeliers, oenologists, and so on. The Academy organizes numerous events, such as the ones described below, and collaborates frequently with the D.O.s of  Sherry, Ribera del Duero, Rías Baixas, Somontano and Ribera del Guadiana, as well as with corporations such as Bodegas Miguel Torres, Castillo de Perelada, Codorniú or Allied Domecq.

Events that TWA of Spain had in Schedule for 2006
• WSET Courses – levels 1, 2 & 3 for the wine industry to take place in different cities in Spain and in Portugal.
• Global Warming & Wine – 1st World Meeting – with the participation of the most important world experts – Barcelona, March 24 & 25.
• Barcelona Wine Festival – III International Wine Symposium – with the most important speakers of the wine world – Barcelona, June 15th & 16th.
• Advanced course on viticulture and canopy management – conducted by Dr. Richard Smart - Penedés , June 19th and 20th.
• Trip to California – visiting Napa and Sonoma and attending an advanced course on oenology and viticulture at the prestigious University of California Davis  - July 29th to August 7th.
• Madrid Wine Festival – Madrid, November 10th & 11th.
